Meet the Team
Our group leaders, Nancy and Scott, have extensive experience working with the Omaha-based grief support organization Grief’s Journey. Together, they provide guidance, grace, and mentorship to students working through the journey of grief.

Born and raised in Omaha, Nancy has been blessed to be a stay-home-mom and wife for over 20 years. She has two sons, Mason - 21 (who died of cancer several years ago), and Reid - 16. While she has always had a passion for helping kids, the journey her family has taken due to the illness and loss of her son, Mason, fuels her drive to provide a safe and healthy place for teens to learn about and process grief. She has participated in grief support groups individually and with her family, worked as a co-facilitator of the teen group at Grief's Journey, and deeply wants to use her experience and understanding of grief to help others. In her R&R time, Nancy loves being outside, hanging out with friends and family, and playing with her dogs.

Scott is an Omaha native and a graduate of Westside High School and UNL. Scott and his wife Jill have been married for 28 years and have three older children (Ethan – 23, Mitchell – 22, and Libby – 19). Scott volunteered with Grief’s Journey for many years as a Grief Group Facilitator, specializing in teen grief support. Having experienced the loss of his father and two close friends as a teen himself, Scott has a special empathy for the struggle teens feel through the loss of a loved one at this age. In his spare time, Scott loves to golf, travel, and spend time with friends and family.
